Hi my friends! As 2025 comes to a close, I wanted to pause for a moment, look back, and celebrate some of the crafty projects that made this year so special for me. 🧵✨
If you’ve been following me for a while, you already know that I’ve been teaching myself to sew — one brave stitch at a time. It’s been such a rewarding journey filled with learning, experimenting, and plenty of “okay Lord… help me figure this out!” moments. And you know what? I’m excited for even more adventures in thread and fabric next year.
Most of my projects this year were sewing-based (that machine and I are becoming good friends!), but I sprinkled in a few extra goodies too. So let’s go!
#1: Tote Bag.

This little cutie was my very first bag project of the year! No lining, no zipper — just an easy-peasy beginner-friendly tote made from DT fabric and a YouTube tutorial.
I used it to hold my crochet projects, and honestly… it handled that job like a champ. Check out the blog post here!
#2: Square Pillows.

Y’all know I love pillows. This was finally the year I went for it and made some myself — in small, medium, and large!
This pattern is wonderfully simple and I loved it so much I even wrote it down in my craft notebook. Plus, you don’t need a lot of supplies to make! Check out the blog posts here and here.
#3. Hot Pads.

After purchasing our first home, I knew I wanted to make functional, cozy, homemaking-type items. Hot pads were at the top of the list — cute, useful, and such a sweet addition to our kitchen. I made a few but this particular one is my favorite. It’s reversible and oh so cute!
#4. Gumball Machines.

Made from Dollar Tree snow-globe ornaments + clear cups + gingham ribbons + peppermints/ candy canes & even sprinkles = Christmas happiness!
I whipped up three of these adorable decorations and they still make me smile. Check out the blog post here!
#5. Infinity Scarves.

Three scarves made from gifted fabrics makes me a very happy crafter! I felt so proud of these. I love making projects for home decor but I also love making functional items that I can wear too.
This project was a labor of love because I made a few mistakes that entailed ripping out a bunch of stitches! But, when these were done, it gave me a lot of satisfaction and they proudly hang in my sewing room!

#6. Sock Monkeys.

Meet Benny and Bella! 🐵 A completely hand-stitched, made from fuzzy socks and finished in two days. Plus, this was my first time ever making sock monkeys and they sit on top of my shelf in my sewing room.
My heart was SO full working on these. This project reminds me that I can learn to make just about anything when I set my mind to it! Check out the blog post here!
#7. Drawstring Bags.

A fast, fun project! I made these in all different sizes and used them constantly and they’re all lined too!
This is an enjoyable project and great for gift giving! Read the full blog post here!
#8. Sock Snowmen.

Nothing says Christmas cozy like sock snowmen! These were my 2nd generation collection. Made from white + fuzzy socks and stuffed with rice and Poly-Fil. The eyes are tiny black pearls that I adhered with liquid fabric glue.
I made a total of five to sit in winter scene on my landing mantle for Christmas!
Each one turned out unique and adorable. Check out the full blog post here!
#9. Key Fobs.

A lifesaver for finding my keys in the bottomless pit known as my purse. 😂 A functional item and very easy to make even for me a beginner!
They’re not all perfectly stitched but nevermind that, I had fun crafting them and that what’s important to me!
I belted out a bunch of them in one day — check the full blog post here!
#10. Dish Drying Mat Pillow.

This year I decorated for Autumn and it began with this cutesy pillow! I turned a Dollar Tree dish drying mats into a super cute pillow that was surprisingly easy to sew with my walking presser foot!
Dish drying mats make excellent pillows because the material is so cushy and I stuffed this with poly-fil. Check out the blog post here!
#11. Fabric Basket.

My very first lined project — and she turned out so sweet in her peachy-pink Dollar Tree fabric.
This is another functional item to hold sewing tools like clips, but I’m now using it hold my scrap fabrics.

#12. Zipper Pouch.

My first zipper sewing project🎉! Also made from a Dollar Tree dish drying mat. It isn’t lined, because the pattern from a YT tutorial was to make it easy and simple for beginning sewists to make. I added a handmade yarn pom-pom for a little charm.
I love the colors and the butterflies on this dish drying mat. I hope my local DT gets more patterns in other colors again cause this is a project I’d like to make again.

#13. Round Pin Cushions.

Oh these were FUN and one of the first sewing projects I made! I don’t use pins (or I avoid them as much as possible :), I use wonder clips but I also do hand and felt stitching so I reach for needles and this pin cushion is perfect for that.
I made a whole bunch, gifted a couple, and enjoyed every minute. The pattern is super simple and perfect for scrap fabrics. Check out the blog post here!
#14. Patchwork Pin Cushions.

Aren’t these so stinkin’ cute?! Made from 2 sheets of I used some fat quarter fabrics that were 5-1/4″ x 5-1/4″ from my stash that I cut.
The buttons just tops off these pin cushions and they are great for traveling with too!

#15. Cord Keepers.

Those pesky cords! They get tangled every which way, but not anymore with these cute cord keepers made from fabric scraps, hair ties and matching buttons!
These can be whipped up in a hurry and a perfect way to use up all our scraps of fabrics!
