Hi my friends, Happy Thanksgiving to you!
I don’t know if you’re celebrating today but whatever you decided and wherever you are, I hope today is filled with blessings. Instead of writing the typical, “what I’m thankful for”, I decided to go in a different direction. And, please…nothing wrong whatsoever with reflecting on our blessings, we should do that everyday and not just one day out of a year. I just wanted to write about something on my heart today.
Crafting Alone… But Never Truly Alone
When I sit down with yarn, felt, or fabric, it might look like I’m working quietly by myself. And in many ways, I am. My crafting table has become my peaceful corner — a place where I can breathe, reflect, unwind, and keep my inner world steady.
But over time, I’ve realized something beautiful: even in the quiet moments, I’m part of something bigger. There’s a whole community of makers out there — crocheters, knitters, sewists, cardmakers, paper crafters, artists of every kind — all creating from the heart and building pockets of kindness in a world that desperately needs it.
- We may craft alone, but we share the same threads of passion.
- We cheer for each other’s progress.
- We learn, we teach, we inspire.
- We’re strangers, yet somehow, we’re also home to one another.
What has Crafting taught me?
Crafting has taught me that inner peace isn’t found in perfection — it’s in the process. It’s in giving yourself permission to slow down. To grow at your own pace. To make something with your hands that brings a little light to someone else.
In this handmade journey, I’ve carved out my own little niche. It’s small, it’s cozy, and it’s mine. But it’s also connected to a much larger circle… one filled with encouragement, creativity, and genuine care. A safe place where we can show up as ourselves and build each other up.
And honestly? That sense of community — even from a distance — is one of the greatest gifts crafting has given me.
Would I love to have a crafting partner sometimes?
Absolutely. There’s something sweet about creating side-by-side with someone who “gets it.” But right now, it’s just me and my little sewing room — a cozy space where I don’t only sew, but also write, play with digital graphics, make a card or two, crochet, or hand-stitch whatever my heart is leaning toward that day.
In that quiet space, I’m left with my thoughts… but I’m never truly alone. Every stitch I make, every embellishment I add, I’m thinking of someone — a friend, a loved one, or even someone out there who may need a little encouragement today. And that’s why I share my projects, even the ones that didn’t turn out how I hoped. Makers can be so hard on ourselves, and we fear judgment or negative comments. But I don’t mind standing in that gap, because if my sharing — wins and losses — gives even one person courage to show their work, then it’s worth it.
Our World today needs to Change for the Better
The truth is, we live in a world where people are quick to criticize, quick to tear down, and far too ready to say something unkind. That’s why we desperately need safe, supportive creative spaces — places with no jealousy, no coveting, no backbiting, and no gossip. Just makers… each of us building our own little niche, learning as we go, improving bit by bit.
And some days, we really do need encouragement. Sometimes someone else shares a project they think is a failure, but to me — or to you — it might be absolutely beautiful. That’s why cheering each other on matters. Because it’s easy to quit. It’s harder to keep going. But not when you have a whole community, near or far, reminding you that your little craft room is part of something much bigger.
Even if you make in a tiny room by yourself — like me — you’re still surrounded by a world full of makers rooting for you. I’m rooting for you! Thanks for Reading!
